Scattering

Diffusion or redirection of light encountering particles of different refractive index. Scattering occurs at any such interface - at the surface, or inside a medium containing particles.

Simulant / Simulated Gemstones

Simulated stones can be anything that resembles a natural gemstone but does not have the same physical characteristics or chemical composition. Often made of glass or plastic, these imitation stones are much less expensive than the natural forms.
